InterVISTAS Executive Vice President Bill Swelbar to serve on USDOT working group

William Swelbar, research engineer in aeronautics and astronautics.InterVISTAS is pleased to announce that its Executive Vice President Bill Swelbar has been chosen to serve on the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Working Group on Improving Air Service to Small Communities (Working Group), which was created in accordance with Section 2303 of P.L. 114-190, the FAA Extension, Safety, and Security Act of 2016. The 2016 FAA Reauthorization Bill established the Working Group and directs the Secretary to issue a report to Congress by July 2017.

As an appointed Representative Member of the Working Group, Bill  will work with the Group’s members to explore several issues including whether funding for airports, the Essential Air Service Program (EAS), and the Small Community Air Service Development Program (SCASDP) is sufficient, as well as initiatives that could support pilot training.

InterVISTAS is excited to support Bill in his important work for small communities and the issues they face in maintaining and securing air service.  Bill is a leader in the Pilot Shortage issue and is chairman of the Regional Air Service Alliance, an organization dedicated to the health of small community air service.

Potential Impacts of Mr. Trump’s Election on the Aviation Industry

The election of Mr. Donald J. Trump on November 8, 2016, is likely to have positive impacts on investment in the aviation industry. While the composition of the Trump cabinet and specific policies regarding aviation are not known, his positions on infrastructure investment, privatization, and trade are broadly consistent with expansion of American industry. While some of Mr. Trump’s statements seemingly rejecting globalization and multi-culturalism appear to be at odds with increasing trade, they are likely initial negotiating positions that will not stand in the way of achieving a, “deal,” as he is widely viewed to be more pragmatic rather than doctrinaire.

New Aer Lingus service between Dublin and Miami International Airport

InterVISTAS is pleased to announce new Aer Lingus service between Dublin and Miami International Airport, starting September 1, 2017.

The service will be operated with an A330 aircraft 3 times per week.  InterVISTAS assisted Miami International Airport with route analysis and airline engagement including a recent meeting at Aer Lingus headquarters in Dublin.


Congratulations to our client Oakland International Airport for securing British Airways service from London-Gatwick

InterVISTAS is pleased to announce new British Airways service between London-Gatwick and Oakland International Airport, starting on 28 March 2017. The service will be operated with B777-200 aircraft 4 times per week in Summer and 3 times per week in Winter. InterVISTAS assisted Oakland International Airport with route analysis and airline engagement.
