Winnipeg Airports Authority 2009 Economic Impact Study

The Challenge

Winnipeg Airports Authority Inc. (WAA) wanted to demonstrate the significant economic contribution of the airport, its airlines and their partner businesses to the community and the province.

Our Role

WAA commissioned InterVISTAS to conduct an economic impact study to account for the airport’s operations in 2009.

Results

On-going economic activity at the airport contributes an estimated $232 million in tax revenue, annually, to all levels of government.  Also, WAA plans to inject approximately $473 million dollars into expanding and improving the airport between 2008 and 2013 (on average, $79 million annually). The plan is expected to generate an average of 450 direct person years of employment annually.
