TransLink is the transit and major road network operator for the Vancouver region. It operates light rail, buses, ferries, bridges, and rail. The TransLink management team needed to present a triple bottom line analysis to its board and the public explaining the sustainability of a multi-billion dollar 10-year capital plan.
InterVISTAS developed a set of social, environmental and economic indicators in a Multiple Accounts Evaluation (MAE) framework to apply to the projected outcomes of the 10-year capital plan. These indicators were used to compare the potential outcomes of specific scenarios.
The results of InterVISTAS analysis were presented to the board and the public to show that the proposed optimum capital plan would significantly reduce carbon emissions while minimizing capital spending.
