InterVISTAS coordinated the delivery of services to help the Shenzhen Municipality develop a total logistics center in southern China. The Shenzhen Total Logistics project was jointly sponsored by the Shenzhen Transportation Bureau and the Shenzhen Investment Holding Corporation (SIHC).
As part of this analysis, InterVISTAS evaluated the best practices associated with logistics center development in Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and the United States. We interviewed key shippers and manufacturers in the Shenzhen area and compiled extensive information on trade flows into and out of the area. The analysis also focused on institutional barriers to developing Shenzhen as a logistics center.
InterVISTAS’ analysis formed the basis for the investment of the Shenzhen Investment Holding Corporation. As a result, the client has witnessed the explosive growth of Shenzhen as a major cargo center. Shenzhen handled a record number of containers in 2005, ranking as the world’s fourth-busiest port, after rising trade increased cargo shipments through the southern Chinese city. Investors in Shenzhen are expanding to take advantage of rising volume.
