The development of the new Pudong Airport created a complex financial and political situation with the existing airport. As these airports are owned by a single authority, InterVISTAS was commissioned to develop and support the implementation of a long-term development strategy and marketing initiatives, including the strategy of resource allocation for “One city, two airports.”
InterVISTAS defined the roles of Shanghai Hongqiao vs. Shanghai Pudong Airports. Our analysis included traffic distribution studies, and the development of a strategy for growth of Pudong as an international gateway.
In 1999, the Shanghai Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal Company was founded by Shanghai Airport Group, Lufthansa Cargo and JHJ Logistics Management in a bid to establish Shanghai Pudong International Airport as one of the major cargo hubs in China.
