Located in Northern Ontario, Sault Ste. Marie sought to pursue opportunities for increased competition for air services to Toronto, a key business market for the region.
InterVISTAS conducted detailed route analysis, including development of specific flight schedule and frequency scenarios to evaluate the viability of a new Toronto service by Porter Airlines. Using the results of the analysis a business case was created, which included information on the following key areas:
- Airport/community overview
- Passenger surveys information
- Market size data
- Capacity/air fare history
- Route forecast
- Airport costs
- Financial incentives
The business case was then presented to Porter Airlines at a headquarters meeting.
As a result of these efforts, Sault Ste. Marie Airport has been able to secure a new double daily Toronto City Airport (YTZ) service from Porter Airlines.
