Privatization of Guilin International Airport

The Challenge

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was considering working with the Civil Aviation Authority of China in the privatization of the new Guilin International Airport, and needed an evaluation of the financial viability of the project as a build, operate and transfer project.  The unique structure of the airport project made this evaluation particularly complex.

Our Role

On behalf of the CAAC and Schiphol, InterVISTAS performed a comprehensive due diligence on the financial and operational aspects of the airport project, conducting feasibility study, developing appropriate demand forecasts, facilities review, estimates of operating and financing costs, and strategic analyses of the fit-to-market need of the airport as designed.

Ultimately, InterVISTAS’ analyses led to a commercial and governmental decision not to privatize the airport project.
