Port of Goderich Terminal Expansion Business Case

The Challenge

The Port of Goderich operates on constrained reclaimed lands in Lake Huron. The Port Authority and the Town of Goderich sought to expand the port lands, build new breakwalls to protect port operations, and add two new berths to expand operations at peak periods.

Our Role

Working the with the port and its engineer in 2009, InterVISTAS prepared and presented a business case to apply for significant government funding through public-private partnership programs. InterVISTAS guided the development of this cost-benefit analysis and the final preparation of the business case document including potential economic and tax benefits of the plan.

In 2011, the Province of Ontario provided almost $16 million to support the development. The Port of Goderich and Sifto also committed funds to the $47 million project. Project completion is planned in 2016.
