International Business Aviation Council IS-BAO Business Model

The Challenge

The IS-BAO safety standard was developed by the business aviation community so that the industry would have one universally accepted global safety standard. The IS-BAO is an ‘industry code of practices’ developed by a large number of highly successful operators. In addition to ‘raising the safety bar’, benefits include the promotion of harmonized safety rules, providing for one audit standard, pride in achievement and many others.

Our Role

InterVISTAS reviewed how IS-BAO was operating and steered a set of recommendations consisting of a task force from business aviation associations around the world.

Results

Through InterVISTAS work, changes to the management structure and revenue/cost models were advanced to enable the sustained growth and value of the industry standard as it becomes increasingly more important to the future safety oversight programs required to keep the excellent safety record of business aviation constantly improving. Services fostered better cooperation with European, US and ICAO officials.
