IAH has been pursuing Jade Cargo for several years to add capacity in the important Texas-China market. IAH also hopes that new freighter services will increase utilization of its new perishables facility.
With tight budget constraints, InterVISTAS reviewed past IAH cargo development work from other consultants and analyzed the relevant markets. Using the analytic output, opportunities were identified for Jade in the Texas market.
- Texas is 2nd largest U.S. state for China air trade.
- Texas has a strong air export profile for China market.
- Jade would face much less direct competition at IAH vs. other gateways.
- Opportunities exist with the Mexican maquiladoras and with Latin American links at IAH.
InterVISTAS first cargo project for IAH was determined to be a success and foundations were laid for follow-on work in the air cargo area.
