Located in the U.S.- Mexico border region, the El Paso International Airport (ELP) sought development of an effective, comprehensive passenger air service development program to improve domestic and international air service at the airport.
InterVISTAS conducted detailed route analysis to identify potential air service opportunities for ELP in the domestic U.S. market as well as Mexico. Using the results of the analysis, target markets and air carriers were prioritized. Business cases were developed which included information on the following key areas:
- Airport/community overview
- Route forecasts
- Airport cost
- Financial incentives
- Traveler survey results
- Market size data
- Capacity/air fare history
These business cases have been presented to numerous air carriers at headquarters meetings and industry conferences.
InterVISTAS support of the ELP air service development efforts has led to several inquiries by air carriers interested in potentially initiating/expanding services at ELP. Community support and awareness for air service development initiatives has increased and a new, more competitive incentive program is being finalized.
