Porter Airlines is a Canadian airline operating with 70 seat Q400 aircraft out of Toronto Island Airport to destinations in Canada and the USA. It initiated air services in 2006 but, prior to taking critical investment decisions, potential backers requested a comprehensive review of its business plan.
Porter’s supposition was that an airline operating out of Toronto Island, in close proximity to the city centre, would be particularly attractive to business customers. InterVISTAS was asked to determine the actual size of the air travel market, forecast market share and project flight loads across target routes. We were also asked to review the overall business plan, including airfare assumptions, to determine the financial viability of the new operation. InterVISTAS submitted a full report and recommendations.
As a result of InterVISTAS’ work, the investors decided to proceed with the airline. In the space of four years it has grown it to serve nine Canadian domestic destinations and four in the USA out of its Toronto Island base.
