ACRP Report 61 – Elimination or Reduction of Baggage Recheck

The Challenge

The Airports Cooperative Research Program commissioned a study to identify solutions for eliminating or reducing baggage recheck for international passengers connecting through U.S. airports which impacts 60,000 connecting passengers per day.

Our Role

InterVISTAS completed a comprehensive review of current connection processes and defined the key success metrics for alternate solutions. Live operational tests of the alternate solutions were held to ensure their feasibility in real conditions.

The study concluded that there was immediate opportunity to eliminate baggage recheck and begin reducing recheck for onward domestic connections. InterVISTAS is now in the process of discussing implementation of these solutions at U.S. airports.
