MAR 26 Baggage recheck elimination could dramatically improve the ability for flight connections through airports. InterVISTAS's Solomon Wong and his team completed a study that was recently published by the US Transportation Research Board (ACRP Report 61). The study looked at new technologies and present opportunities to better manage border risks while allowing international passengers to connect onto their flights without baggage recheck. MAR 23 The Croatian government has awarded a €324 million (US$423 million) concession contract for the construction of a new terminal at Zagreb Airport to the Zagreb Airport International Company (ZAIC) consortium. InterVISTAS acted as the transaction advisor to the deal which will lead to a new terminal capable of handling 5 million passengers per year (up from 2 million). Construction will take three years and ZAIC will operate the entire airport for 30 years. Read More

MAR 20 InterVISTAS has signed a new agreement with the Vancouver Convention Centre (VCC) to provide sustainability advisory services. VCC is a recognized leader in sustainability within the industry and IVC will help them shape their sustainability strategy by facilitating a number of sessions, compare their efforts against other convention centres and evaluate supporting frameworks.

MAR 09 InterVISTAS congratulates our client, Kilimanjaro Airport Development Company, on securing new air service with Qatar Airways. Beginning in July 2012, QR will operate daily flights from Doha to Kilimanjaro via Nairobi using A320 aircraft. The Doha hub is ideally situated to provide access from around the world to Kilimanjaro International Airport - the gateway to the Serengeti and the Northern Tanzania safari circuit. JAN 04 InterVISTAS is delighted to announce the promotion of John Weatherill to the position of Executive Vice President, where he will assume full responsibility for the management of InterVISTAS' Air Service Development business line. DEC 20 InterVISTAS (IVC) played an integral role on a team that was selected by the U.S. Trade & Development Agency (USTDA) to plan and conduct the U.S. - India Aviation Symposium held in New Delhi in November 2011. IVC worked closely with the prime contractor, the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), to gather project information, evaluate projects, identify the delegates and meet with government and private sector officials and financiers in the region. IVC also had a key role in planning and executing the symposium including identifying speakers and panel members. IVC's Emre Serpen and George Novak moderated panels on general aviation and air cargo opportunities in India, respectively.

DEC 20 InterVISTAS is pleased to be working with the Ottawa International Airport in its effort to evaluate and secure new air services. InterVISTAS is responsible for providing comprehensive route analysis, including an assessment of the impact that new routes could have on existing services.

DEC 15 InterVISTAS acts as Transaction Advisor to the Government of Croatia on the awarding of the concession to build a new passenger terminal at Zagreb Airport. Hans Mohrmann's team undertook the due diligence, proved the feasibility and structured the deal and process which will lead to the awarding of the concession to construct a new passenger terminal at Zagreb Airport. Croatia's State Secretary for Infrastructure at the Transport and Infrastructure Ministry, Tomislav Mihotic, said on Monday that the bid submitted by the French consortium Zagreb Airport International Company (ZAIC) is extremely good and, if adopted, Croatia will get hundreds of millions of euros in concession fees. DEC 06 The Delaware River & Bay Authority (DRBA) retained InterVISTAS to perform a fare analysis of the Cape May (NJ) - Lewes (DE) Ferry. InterVISTAS' experience with ferry economics and a good working relationship with the DRBA were instrumental in the success of this project.

DEC 02 Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) has contracted InterVISTAS to provide air service development support in 2012. DEC 02 InterVISTAS will undertake a detailed situation analysis and conduct stakeholder consultations before creating a China Air Service Development strategy for the Government of Alberta (Tourism, Parks & Recreation). This study follows the opportunity assessment of Approved Destination Status which InterVISTAS undertook for the Government of Alberta in 2010.

NOV 18 InterVISTAS has been awarded a contract to support Budapest Airport in pursuing new long haul air service. NOV 16 InterVISTAS wishes to congratulate our client, Orange County John Wayne Airport (SNA), on securing its first nonstop service to Mexico aboard Southwest Airlines and its subsidiary AirTran Airways. The Airport held its dedication for the new Terminal C on 13 November 2011 and Southwest made the announcement at the event. Daily service will begin in June 2012 to both Cabo San Lucas and Mexico City.

MAY 31 Tourism Kelowna has commissioned an update to the Economic Impact of Tourism Study that InterVISTAS originally prepared in 2006. In 2006, the study found that there wer 6,900 direct jobs associated with tourism in Kelowna. InterVISTAS will be updating this study in July 2011.

JUN 2 Coast Hotels & Resorts recently completed an extensive study to gain a better understanding of the extent of its carbon footprint. Working with InterVISTAS Consulting Inc., the company measured the carbon dioxide generated by three represntative hotels.
JUN 1 InterVISTAS (under the name Innova Aviation, which merged with InterVISTAS in 2009) was one of the team members advising on the transaction that led to a French-Turkish consortium, Limak-Aeroport de Lyon, winning the bid for a $126 million (100 million Euros) contract to run Kosovo's only commercial airport, Prishtina International Airport (PRN), for the next 20 years.
JUN 1 In the May edition of On the Move, a newsletter put out by Initiatives Prince George, IPG has an article on its inland port and the benefits it is having through enhanced trade for northern BC. The article refers to the 2006 Northern BC Container Opportunities Study conducted by InterVISTAS Consulting IPG notes the study recognized the opportunities that existed and that CN opened an intermodal facility in 2007. It also notes that the study projected the economic impact of the inland port and ends off by saying, "Projected regional economic impacts from this northern inland container port that were identified in 2006 appear to be very much on-target."
