The Need

International arrivals processing was challenged in 2006 by insufficient space and a long wait and process time, impacting both airports and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

Our Role

On behalf of major airports in Canada and working with CBSA, InterVISTAS prepared a business case for automating passport control and customs declaration card processing.  The team further developed the concept and facilitated pilot implementation.

Results

CBSA processing effectiveness increased by over 40% and, with the Vancouver Airport Authority pilot project investment, resulted in a successful template for expansion for other airports.
